現在の不況は、それを可能とした多国籍企業と新自由主義の政治家と巨大銀行と金融機関の近視眼と強欲によって引き起こされました。あまりにもしばしば歴史が示してきましたが、経済状態が現在のように絶望的になると、若者や貧困者は他にまともな機会がほとんどないために希望を失い、軍隊に入隊するか、そうでなければ、麻薬や犯罪行為に巻き込まれるのです。
不幸なことに、経済危機の原因となったその同じ近視眼的で強欲な企業や政治家たちが、国家予算と若者の命を浪費する必要もない巨大軍事企業連合への供給者となって利益を上げるのです。
アメリカ反戦労働者の会と全世界の仲間はいかなる場所でも軍国主義や新自由主義や帝国主義の拡大に抵抗し続けなければなりません。私たちは国際連帯と相互の支援のきずなを強めることによって軍国主義や勤労者に対する企業の攻撃に抵抗することができます。私たちは全ての不法な軍事占領を終わらせ、全ての核兵器とその他の大量破壊兵器を廃棄し、全ての外国軍基地を撤去することを要求し、こうした浪費されている資源を人間的な要求―すなわち全世界の貧困や病気やホームレスや非識字をなくすこと―に応える方向に向け直せと要求しなければなりません。
The current recession has been caused by the shortsightedness and greed of multi-national corporations, neo-liberal politicians and the huge banking and financial institutions who enable them. Too often history has shown us that when economic conditions become desperate, as they are now, young and poor people become discouraged and join the ranks of the military because there are so few other decent opportunities available, or become involved with drugs and criminal activity.
Unfortunately the same shortsighted and greedy corporations and politicians who have caused the economic crises will profit as suppliers to the gigantic unneeded military combines that consume national treasuries and young lives.
US Labor Against the War and its partners around the world must continue to resist the spread of militarism, neo-liberalism and imperialism wherever they may be. We can resist militarism and the corporate assault on working people by strengthening our bonds of international solidarity and mutual support. We must demand an end to all illegal military occupations, elimination of all nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, dismantling of all foreign military bases, and that these squandered resources be redirected to meeting human needs - ending poverty, disease, homelessness and illiteracy around the world.
